At the 81st UN General Assembly, NRNA NCC USA and global NRNA chapters presented NPF-backed policy proposals to Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, urging Nepal to establish a dedicated MoFA Diaspora Coordination Center, map global diaspora skills and capital, and strengthen next-generation youth engagement.
In a key milestone for diaspora policy advocacy, the Non-Resident Nepali Association National Coordination Council USA (NRNA NCC USA), in solidarity with NRNA chapters across more than 90 countries, has officially submitted a comprehensive recommendation letter to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Shishir Khanal at the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The submission directly incorporates major policy proposals formulated by the National Policy Forum (NPF) , specifically the strategic agenda outlined in the letter regarding diaspora coordination and national research.
Establishment of a Diaspora Coordination Center: Creating a dedicated unit within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) as the primary engine for diaspora engagement and the main official hub for NRNA and global Nepali organizations.
National Diaspora Capability & Needs Study: Commissioning a comprehensive national study led by MoFA, universities, and diaspora researchers to map the skills, capital, networks, and needs of Nepalis abroad.
Second- and Third-Generation Engagement: Supporting Nepali language education, heritage visits, and remote higher education access to keep younger generations connected to Nepal.
The inclusion of NPF's recommendations in NRNA’s formal letter underscores how NPF’s research and strategic frameworks are actively shaping high-level policy dialogue with the Government of Nepal.
